Handling Offensive Guestbook or Message Board Entries

You can look up the IP address for a post on the "Guestbook" and/or "Message Board" admin page (under Communication). However, IP addresses are an inexact method of identification because many people are assigned a different address each time they connect to the Internet.

If the entries are threatening or illegal, you can determine the poster's ISP from the IP address (http://arin.net/), then contact the ISP with the IP address and time of the incident. They should be able to track the person down from there.

If the entries are just offensive or mean-spirited, your best bet is to quietly delete them (also on the "Guestbook" or "Message Board" admin page) and not respond to them on the board. Most people who post such entries are trying to get attention and want you to respond. If you don't respond, they'll most likely stop trying.
